Cancellation

All of our hard costs occur before the event and will be paid for by Ride Southern Utah
Events regardless if you show up and many are incurred months before the event. We
will not be offering refunds.
You may defer (change) your entry to another event or transfer it to another rider.
Deferrals and Transfers can be done up till 9 AM the Thursday prior to the event.
Entries can be deferred to any other ride during the same calendar year.
To transfer or defer your registration, please see your registration confirmation email
and click the link “manage your registration“. If you need to transfer your registration
to a rider in another category or gender, please email margaret@ridesouthernutah.com
with your transfer request.

Weather

Ride Southern Utah Events will not be cancelled due to weather unless the event
director feels that the riders’ safety is in jeopardy.
If an event is cancelled within an hour of the start time due to extreme weather, riders
will be given a 50% off coupon for any future RSU Event within 12 months.
Extreme weather is rare in Southern Utah and does not include rain, wind, cold, or
heat. We’re thinking more in the line of ice storms or volcanoes erupting. Any rider that
registers for an event that has been cancelled by Ride Southern Utah Events ahead of
the event date will receive a 100% refund.

PROPER FUELING
Knowing what to eat and how often can make or break your ride. Make sure you try out different nutrition options ahead of time on your training rides and then stick with what works. Everyone has the story of that time they decided to try something different right.Before a big ride and how miserable it is. Leave the experimenting for when you can easily bail and not have it effect your goals. We have rest stops every 20 miles (give or take) with the basics: water, fruit, PB&Js, electrolytes, salty items as well as sugar items. We try our best to have a variety and something for everyone’s needs.

TIME IN THE SADDLE
Time in the saddle is paramount. It’s the best to estimate how long you expect your ride to take you and then make sure you are riding at least that amount of time per week.You will want to do shorter rides during the week followed by longer ones on the weekend. Training ahead of time will make your ride more enjoyable.

BIKE PREP
Bike prep can be broken down into two parts, fit and maintenance.Proper fit of your bike will ensure that your ride is comfortable and that you are less likely. To sustain overuse injuries while training or on the day of your event. Fit incorporates proper saddle width and height, cleat adjustment and handlebar position to tailor your bike to fit your body’s biomechanics.The last thing you want to have happen on your ride is a mechanical that inhibits you from finishing. All those hours of training can be ruined by lack of maintenance. We highly recommend getting your bike tuned up about two weeks ahead of your ride. This will give you time to get a few rides on it to make sure everything is perfect and if not, you have time to remedy anything that isn’t working properly.

SUPPORT SKILLS
Every rider should know how to change their own flats and have the appropriate gear necessary to do so (spare tube, inflation device, tire lever) In addition we will have roving support on the course. Our roving support consists of vehicles on the course going from point to point to assist with flat repairs and possibly other small mechanical issues. There are only 3-5 vehicles spread out on the course at any given time. This means it can take a bit for one to pass you. Being prepared yourself will help with wait time. There will be a support number given in your final email that you can also text for help during the ride. They can also transport you back to the start line if necessary.
